There is Still Time!

There is still time to get registered for the Nebraska School Mental Health Conference! The Steering Committee decided that in the interest of the safety and health of our attendees, we would transition the conference to a virtual platform. However, we will still be hosting our three dynamic keynote speakers and 25 breakout sessions from local experts on June 4th & 5th. Each registered participant will receive 6.25 CEUs, as well as a memorable experience, and a wealth of knowledge to implement in your classroom, school, or practices.

We continue to hear from our community partners that the mental health of youth is going to be more important now as we transition to whatever our “new normal” is going to look like. Youth are experiencing the uncertainty and change just as we are as adults, and they aren’t necessarily equipped to process it in the same way. They have been removed from their friends, their normal routine, and for some, the safest environment they experience throughout the week. All these things are impacting the mental health of youth and are things we need to be prepared to help guide them through as we move forward.

The Kim Foundation continues our remote working environment, but we remain in service to our community for any mental health or suicide prevention education and awareness needs necessary. We have conducted virtual presentations for a variety of audiences, whether live or pre-recorded, and are happy to do so for any group you are a part of if you’re looking for a speaker. Our Metro Area LOSS Team remains a vital service to our community in providing visits to families who have lost a loved one to suicide. Due to the ongoing pandemic, these visits are being conducted via zoom when available. We have also rolled out many videos on mental health and suicide prevention topics since April, and these are available on our social media sites, as well as our website if you are interested.

We continue to stand with our community in these uncertain times and know that together, we will move forward even stronger. Business as usual may not look like business always has, but we evolve, adapt, and take each opportunity as it comes. Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to help you navigate these times with mental health or suicide prevention resources.
