4th Annual Hope and Healing through Creativity Contest

The Kim Foundation is proud to present its 4th Annual Hope and Healing through Creativity Contest. In recognition of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, the foundation will sponsor a contest about hope and healing. The foundation invites students to submit original works of art or creative writing that share personal stories. Students can tell their stories of hope and healing by showing healthy ways of coping with stress/anxiety, sharing recovery stories, promoting positive mental health, or contributing ideas to prevent suicide.

All middle and high school students in Douglas and Sarpy counties are eligible to participate. The entries must be turned in by Friday, May 3rd. The art entries can be drawings, paintings, or other two-dimensional works of art. They should be no larger than 11” x 14” and can be created on paper, canvas, cardboard, or foam board using materials such as markers, colored pencils, chalk, or paint. Please do not include any trademarked/copyrighted images or phrases in the artwork.

The creative writings can be essays, short stories, letters, or poetry and should be no longer than one page in length. Teachers, parents, and caregivers are asked not to assist the student with the entry. The top three winners in each category will be notified by May 15th. The First Place winners will receive a $100 Visa gift card. The Second Place winners will receive a $50 Visa gift card. The Third Place winners will receive a $25 Visa gift card. The top winners in each category may also have their entries displayed at various events sponsored by The Kim Foundation. All winners will be recognized in our online newsletter as well. We hope the contest helps to bring awareness to mental health while focusing on hope and realizing that healing is possible.
