Chalk It Up for Brighter Tomorrows

Connection saves lives. Whether it’s a conversation between friends, a check-in with a coworker, or a smile from a stranger — meaningful connection is a powerful protective factor against suicide. That’s why The Kim Foundation invites you to join us in spreading messages of hope through our annual event, Chalk It Up for Brighter Tomorrows, during World Suicide Prevention Week.

During the week of September 7th through the 13th, we’re encouraging individuals, families, schools, businesses, and organizations across the community to grab some chalk and fill sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots with words and images of encouragement, support, and hope. It’s a simple, creative way to show that you care — and to start important conversations.

Need supplies? We’ve got you covered! In addition to offering free chalk, we also provide a variety of FREE materials to help your school, workplace, or organization observe Suicide Prevention Month in a meaningful way. These include:

  • Fun fidgets and giveaway items
  • Mental health and suicide prevention resource guides
  • Prescription lock boxes and more!

You can use these materials to create displays, host awareness events, or simply spark everyday conversations that can make a big difference.

👉 Order your free chalk and materials here: thekimfoundation.org/event/chalk-it-up-for-brighter-tomorrows-2025

Once your chalk art is complete, snap a photo and share it on social media using the hashtag #ChalkItUp2025, or email your photo (with your name) to info@thekimfoundation.org. All submissions will be reviewed by the Metro Area Suicide Prevention Coalition, and selected entries will receive a prize!

One of the most meaningful parts of the year for us at The Kim Foundation is seeing our community’s sidewalks, driveways, and streets filled with messages of hope. It’s an incredible reminder of the strength and compassion we share when we come together.

Please join us in chalking our city with hope and together we can create brighter tomorrows!
