More Than a Meeting: YAC in Action
At the heart of The Kim Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a simple goal: creating a space where young people feel comfortable talking about mental health. We want our members to feel educated, supported, and equipped with the tools they need to take care of their own mental health, support others, and help prevent suicide.
.
This year, we have a lot in store for YAC. We’re taking our members beyond the meeting room and into the community through volunteer opportunities, community events, and opportunities to connect with other youth organizations. We want our members to learn from other young people, see the impact they’re making, and discover new ways to get involved.
.
Most importantly, we’re working to cultivate the next generation of mental health leaders. That means giving youth the knowledge, experiences, and confidence to use their voices and advocate for mental health in their schools, communities, and beyond.
.
We’re excited to see YAC grow into a space where conversations about mental health feel normal; young people feel empowered to speak up, and our members have the tools to make a difference. There’s a lot ahead, and we’re just getting started.
