Princess Kate Pledges Mental Health Help If Her Children Have A Need

Princess Kate, The Duchess of Cambridge, made a powerful statement on the new children’s mental health pod cast series, Child in Mind.

“Throughout my work with family and child support organizations, one thing that has stood out to me time and again is that getting early support for a child who is struggling to cope is the best possible thing we can do to help our children as they grow up,” said the Kate. “Knowing this, both William and I feel very strongly that we wouldn’t hesitate to get expert support for George and Charlotte if they need it.”

Princess Kate has been one of mental health’s leading advocates because she understands that mental health is just as important as physical health. Kate partnered with her husband Prince William and brother-in-law, Prince Harry, earlier this year to launch the Heads Together campaign, which brought together eight charities in the UK to change perceptions about mental health. Each of the Royals has a specific focus that they are passionate about. For Kate, it’s children’s mental health, for Princes William, it’s young men at risk for suicide, and for Prince Harry, it’s men and women in the military and Veterans.

While Kate has the title of Princess, I think it is clear that she views herself as a mother first. I hope that more mothers and fathers follow in her footsteps in reaching out for help if they feel that their child may be having mental health struggles. It’s time to remove the stigma and start getting our children help sooner to ensure better outcomes.
