Volunteering has many benefits for both the mind and body — it can help build new social connections, increase self-confidence, improve mental and physical health and provide new, fun experiences.
Our volunteering opportunities accommodate a range of skills and time commitments for anyone looking to support our mission of serving as a supportive resource and compassionate voice for lives touched by mental illness and suicide.
Office support
Help our team count and label inventory, package kits for special events, assemble folders for our initiatives and more. We typically have weekly availability for office support volunteering.
“This opportunity to assist in tasks will free up needed time for the foundation members to continue their calling by helping people that are in their darkest moments. From the moment I started volunteering at The Kim Foundation, I have felt welcomed and valued every day.” — Rachel, office support volunteer
Community outreach
Help support The Kim Foundation’s presence at various community events, including booths at festivals, conferences and more.
“I love working various booths and being able to interact with others! It fills me with hope when we are able to touch the lives of others!” — Nyla, community outreach volunteer
Metro Area LOSS Team
A larger but rewarding volunteering commitment is the Metro Area Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) Team. Members of the team, which consists of survivor volunteers (persons who have experienced the suicide of a loved one) and mental health professionals, are activated by first response officials to the scene of the suicide and are present to offer resources, support, and sources of hope to the newly bereaved.
