Volunteer Spotlight: ILC
The Kim Foundation (TKF) is proud to recognize Integrated Life Choices (ILC) in this month’s Volunteer Spotlight!
Over the last two years, our friends from ILC have unwrapped and sorted more than 100,000 popper fidgets that we hand out at trainings, community booths, parades, and more. More than 100,000!! And when we’re fully stocked on poppers, they help us color positive affirmation sheets that we share at community events with anyone who might need an encouraging message.
Our ILC friends are such a joy to see each week. No matter the task, they arrive excited to see us and happy to help — and we’re always just as happy to see them. Their visits are a great reminder that connection, belonging, and having meaningful opportunities to contribute to our community all play an important role in positive mental health. And week after week, our friends from ILC aren’t just helping TKF get important work done — they’re an important part of our team too.
A: Volunteering with The Kim Foundation is an incredibly rewarding experience because of its supportive community and meaningful mission. The staff and individuals involved are exceptionally kind and welcoming, which creates a positive and uplifting environment. It is always enjoyable to participate in their interactive outreach activities, where individuals get to help prep and organize resource materials, and it feels great to actively contribute to such an important cause.
Q: What inspired you to have your group volunteer with The Kim Foundation?
A: Several factors inspired us to volunteer at The Kim Foundation, with their core mission on suicide prevention and mental health being a primary driver. This cause is incredibly dear to my heart, making the opportunity to contribute, highly meaningful. Additionally, the genuine kindness and welcoming nature of the employees there further solidified our decision to get involved with the organization.
Q: What drives you/your staff/your clients to be a volunteer (in general, not just for TKF)?
We choose to volunteer at organizations like The Kim Foundation or various other nonprofits because they are driven by a deep desire to help others and make a meaningful difference. This altruistic motivation creates a powerful sense of personal fulfillment and joy for our individuals at ILC.
Q: Anything else you’d like to say about volunteering, mental health awareness, suicide prevention, the foundation, or your work in a helping profession as well?
