American Psychiatric Nurses Association Honors Michael Rice

Six extremely deserving individuals were recently honored at the American Psychiatric Nurses Association’s (APNA) 24th Annual Conference held October 13 – 16 in Louisville, Kentucky. Among the distinguished winners was University of Nebraska Medical Center Professor, Michael Rice, PhD, APRN, BC, FAAN, recipient of the Award for Excellence in Education.

Rice, a graduate of UNMC College of Nursing, also serves as the Associate Director of the Nebraska Behavioral Health Education Center, a joint venture between the UNMC College of Medicine and the state of Nebraska which aims to increase the behavioral health workforce in Nebraska through the use of interdisciplinary education. As a professor at UNMC, Rice uses interactive technology to bring education to nurses in rural areas; work that has earned Rice many accolades from colleagues and students including Nebraska’s Outstanding Teacher Award presented earlier this year in addition to APNA’s Award of Excellence in Education.
