The Power of Connection & Gratitude

Here at The Kim Foundation, we are so grateful for each and every community partner, donor, volunteer, and professional partner who has helped support us in our mission of serving as a supportive resource and compassionate voice for lives touched by mental illness and suicide. We could not do this work without the help of our entire community, and when I was thinking about all the work we have done in 2023, I couldn’t help but focus on how powerful and important connection is – not only in the field of mental health awareness and suicide prevention, but in our personal and professional lives as well.

When we present to members of our community, we often discuss the power of connection. Being connected to our coworkers, our families, and our friends can be crucial to our mental health, and those connections are a great protective factor when it comes to suicide and mental health concerns. The Kim Foundation is honored to facilitate some of those connections for those in need of resources, but we are also so grateful that we ourselves have forged long-lasting relationships with several different organizations, companies, and individuals during the past year.

As the holidays rapidly approach, I would like to take this time to extend a sincere thank you to every single one of you who has supported The Kim Foundation in 2023. Because of your help, we were able to host Jon Gordon at our Time for Hope & Healing annual event, organize the 2023 Nebraska School Mental Health Conference, implement the second-ever EmPOWER Youth Summit, give hundreds of presentations to Nebraskans in need of training, provide thousands of individuals with life-saving resources, and connect suicide LOSS survivors to the help they need. It truly takes all of us to prevent suicide, and the power behind the connections we made this year has propelled The Kim Foundation to save lives throughout the Metro area and beyond. We cannot say thank you enough for supporting us in these efforts!

If you would like to continue to support us, I encourage you to consider making a year-end gift to The Kim Foundation during this giving season, so we can continue to serve those in need. Giving back is a great way to invest in your community and be a part of something bigger, which is really what the holiday season is all about! If you’re interested in donating, you can visit our website here.

As your December days fill up with to-do tasks, holiday shopping lists, traffic, and commotion, I also urge you to take some time to reflect on the meaningful connections in your own life. Practicing gratitude and reflecting on what is most important can be a great way to close out 2023 and ring in 2024!

The Kim Foundation wishes you all a very happy holiday season!
