The Kim Foundation has partnered with local nonprofit organizations for over 20 years, awarding annual grants to support their missions. As we look ahead to the future mission and strategic direction internally, we see a need to shift the focus of our resources on providing direct services that expand access to mental health support and education to advance both post-suicide support and prevention efforts in our local community. Beginning in 2026, The Kim Foundation will transition away from awarding annual grants.
With this change, we will also take steps to address Nebraska’s critical shortage of mental health practitioners and professionals by funding local workforce training needs. In addition, we will implement new collaborative initiatives to support mental health and suicide prevention efforts among local youth and high-risk populations. This strategic shift follows careful reflection by our Board of Directors and other key stakeholders. Driving this decision is the need for long-term sustainability within our organization, as well as our commitment to make the most significant possible impact with the resources entrusted to us.
The Kim Foundation looks forward to continuing to support suicide prevention in meaningful ways through the valued ongoing partnerships that exist. Working together, we can continue to ensure positive outcomes in the fight against suicide.
