Mindful Monday: A Guide to Starting Your Week off Right
We’ve all been there. Monday rolls around and suddenly it feels like responsibilities are sky high. You “Should have paid your bills this weekend” or “Should have purchased that birthday gift you’d been meaning to grab”. It’s anxiety inducing and overwhelming and can feel wholly defeating. With just a few quick tips and tricks, you can start your week off on the right foot and can absolutely crush those feelings of concern or dread!
The Role of Nutrition in Mental Well-Being
The ways in which we choose to fuel our bodies have a striking impact on our mental health. While the link between physical health and diet is very well-established, emerging evidence designates a relationship between nutrition and mental well-being. Involving certain nutrients in one’s diet, promoting healthy gut health, and maintaining a generally health-conscious lifestyle promotes mental wellness.
Searching for “Happiness”
I’ve watched nearly every YouTube video, listened to dozens of podcasts, and read a ton of self-help books in an attempt to find the answer to the question, “How do I find happiness?”
A few things I’ve realized from all this research is that happiness will never have one single source. Happiness is multidimensional and should come from finding beauty in the various things around you.
College Life Self-Care
Beginning life as a college student is incredibly exciting. There are opportunities to meet new people, to enroll in classes that are meaningful to you, to begin living more independently, or to pick up hobbies that bring you joy. It can also become overwhelming. It’s difficult to navigate certain changes that frequently accompany college life.
The Feeling of Being Enough
Do you ever find yourself questioning your own worth, and not feeling good enough? You’re not alone in that. In fact, one of my personal limiting beliefs is that I am not good enough. That belief is typically the root cause of a lot of my mental distress. When things go wrong, I often point blame on myself, even if I had no control over the situation.
Try Volunteering!
Volunteering is not only a great opportunity for giving back to the community but can also be beneficial to the volunteers themselves. Volunteer work can look many ways and there are tons of great opportunities to volunteer wherever you live! It’s something that can be tailored to your lifestyle and provides a wonderful opportunity to explore new interests, listen to stories you may have never heard, and it offers a method of giving back to others.
Singles Awareness Day
Tomorrow will mark an unofficial holiday that is celebrated on February 15th every year— Singles Awareness Day (or Singles Appreciation Day). Falling on the day after Valentine’s Day, this day is meant to define that happiness doesn’t depend on a “better half.” Some people may think that celebrating singleness is unnecessary, but it’s an important aspect of self-care!
