One Eventful August

August has been a busy month for us at The Kim Foundation! Among our regular office work, meetings, and community presentations, we also held our Second Annual Organizational Fair on August 6th. Because our attendance grew from roughly 40 booths in 2014, to 50 booths this year, we hosted the event at UNO’s Barbra Weitz Community Engagement Center.

Metro Area LOSS Team Update

As you may know, The Kim Foundation and Region 6 Behavioral Health have been busy this summer establishing a LOSS Team in the Omaha Metro area. In June, we held three sets of interviews and were excited to offer 14 individuals and clinicians a place on the team! Of those 14, we were able to get a dozen of them through the three-hour orientation training in July.

From Struggle Comes Strength Event

During our last health fair, The Kim Foundation was approached by the owners of CrossFit Elkhorn about teaming up and having a mental health awareness event. We are very excited to be able to reach a whole new community of people and start a conversation about the importance of mental health and suicide prevention.

RESPECT Summer Youth & Social Well Being Series

Over the past three weeks, The Kim Foundation had the opportunity to host RESPECT’s Summer Youth & Social Well Being Series. This year the group held three separate sessions throughout July, and each session covered different topics for a wide-range of ages. Each session was attended by over 30 school counselors, teachers, and administrators from all over the Omaha area. Following each performance there was a panel discussion with professionals from our community, as well as group role play.
