Mental Health Crisis in Indonesia
More than 57,000 people in Indonesia with mental health conditions have been subject to pasung. Pasung is the practice of being shackled or locked up in a confined space for an extended period of time as form of “treatment.” Currently, there are an estimated 18,000 people in Indonesia who are victims to pasung, and nearly 57,000 people have experienced it in their lifetime.
15 Mental Health Facts
2016 marks the 15th year for The Kim Foundation as a local nonprofit and mental health advocate. We have dedicated ourselves to reducing the stigma associated with mental illness by being a supportive resource and compassionate voice for lives touched by mental illness and suicide. When you look at the 15 mental health statistics listed below, it is apparent that our work remains a priority for us to see positive change in the mental health field.
Metro Area LOSS Team Monthly Update
This month we had record attendance at our monthly meeting, which gave us a great opportunity to discuss as a group the direction of the team. We talked about some of the challenges we have been facing and came up with some solutions and possible alternatives.

After a very difficult month of January, our team was pleased to see our suicide calls drop over recent weeks. While the numbers have dropped a bit, we still had two local suicide losses which is two too many.

The recent taste of nice weather has most definitely left us all with Spring Fever! Aside from enjoying the sunshine and fairer temperatures, we have had a lot going on here at the office. We have confirmed our speaker for A Time for Hope & Healing, but we won’t reveal who it is just yet!
